Unicorn House, now a family home, was a pub until 1969. The earliest record found to date is of 1836, when Elizabeth Noble was listed as the victualler but it is believed that there used to be an ale house here before this date. During the 1930s a wireless radio was installed which became an attraction to the villagers, who used to gather outside the window to hear the football results. There was a post to prevent carts from hitting the corner of the building at Dilldash Lane > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/848638. Great Snoring is located by the River Stiffkey and has a population of about 160 inhabitants, with a number of houses being second homes. St Mary's church > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/848648 is situated roughly at the village centre, adjoined by the Manor House, now a hotel. The nearest shop and inn are about 3 kilometres distant, in the village of Little Snoring.
