The railway has been here since 1841, firstly as the London & Brighton, then from 1846 as the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway. The third rail electrification system dates here from 1933. This view was taken looking northwards towards London from the bridge that used to join Station Road with Withdean Road. The bridge has been blocked to motor traffic for some time.
