The milestones on the Barkway Road, leading South-West from Cambridge towards London are the famous Trinity stones set up in 1728-1732 under the bequest of Dr William Mowse, a Master of Trinity Hall, Cambridge. This somewhat battered stone, at Harston, tells us it is 5 miles to Cambridge.
