The land here is split between the parishes of Ardington and West Hendred. These are amongst the long narrow parishes that run in parallel strips across the northern flank of the Berkshire Downs thus each incorporating similar proportions of down and valley, with a similar range of gradients and geology. The clump of trees is on the northern edge of the grid-square, south of the Ridgeway.
