Detail of the Kirkby Lonsdale 8, Kendal 4 milestone approximately 200m (215 yards) east of Middleshaw on the northeast side of the B6254 road. This 19th Century milestone was erected by the Keighley and Kendal Turnpike Trust. There is an Ordnance Survey benchmark on the top of the stone. The benchmark is not on the Ordnance Survey database, but it is shown on the Ordnance Survey 6" Westmorland Sheet XXXIX.SW published 1948 as marking a height of 333.4' above Ordnance Datum Liverpool.
