There is a datestone above the door reading ' F M R Currer 1854'. The property looks to be within the curtilage of Kildwick Hall and the Currers were the owners of the hall until the late 19th century. I found an online biography of Frances Mary Richardson Currer (1786-1861) which matches the date and initials. But Frances was born at Eshton Hall near Gargrave, and lived there all her life. According to the same article, she was a very rich woman, bibliophile and generous philanthropist, allegedly an anonymous benefactor of Patrick Bronte. So she probably built this house for a senior servant or junior member of the Currer or Wilson families.
