Hen Gwrt (Old Court) was originally a manor house for the Bishops of Llandaff during the C13 and C14, surrounded by a square-shaped moat that is still intact. By the end of the medieval era, the manor house was replaced with a hunting lodge by the Herbert family of Raglan Castle, used from the late C15 until around the C16.
