The main entrance to the long-disused Hayle Mill, once owned by the Barcham Green family, lies on Hayle Mill Road that runs south from Tovil at the northerly end of the Loose Valley. There were a number of mills in this area and this site has been the subject of a planning dispute that went as far as the Deputy Prime Minister. This paper mill once supplied paper to the Bank of England for banknotes and will be partially demolished to make way for housing.
