Built c.1833 for Timothy Hackworth, engineer for the Stockton and Darlington Railway, as his residence, Listed Grade II*. Following his death, converted in 1855 into two houses and occupied by railway managers until the 1960s. Derelict by the 1970s, it was refurbished as a museum for the SDR’s 150th anniversary in 1975. Now part of the National Railway Museum.
