A building from the mid-17th century next to a Brutalist building from the mid-20th century. Gloucester suffered greatly at the hands of 1960s planners. Lost here was the Bell Hotel, birthplace of Methodist preacher George Whitefield, who crossed the North Atlantic thirteen times, and died in Massachusetts in 1770.
