The location was just to the north of the village of Witton Park, although the railway station at this location was Etherley, a village a mile or so away. 'Spent' track ballast and materials were dumped at a landfill at this location in the post-war years, until the 'tip' was closed in 1989. Loco 03067 was based here for shunting spoil wagons in June 1978.
