Before the railway re-opened at Tondu for passengers the lines were retained for the transport of coal. Here at Tondu a class 37 loco is seen about to couple up to its coal wagons. At this time the line to the right was open for the movement of coal from the valleys. This has been shut now for a number of years when all the remaining coal was moved away.No coal trains now pass through this location.
