Northwood Park was created by George Ward, a London Banker, at the beginning of the 19th century. He established pleasure grounds around Northwood House and planted specimen trees. In 1929 the pleasure grounds were bequeathed to Cowes Urban District Council as “public pleasure grounds for the inhabitants of Cowes”. The park now includes tennis courts, and the bowling green that can be seen in this photograph.
