One of four intermediate sets of locks on the Manchester Ship Canal between Eastham and Salford. This is the path across the upper gates of the smaller southern lock, forming part of the Trans Pennine Trail. Old maps show that the their was a third set of gates of this lock to give flexibility of vessel length and water use.
