See also Image The box opened in 1967 while the power station was still under construction, presumably to control construction traffic. Unusually for the time, it is a manual box (i.e. with levers rather than an electronic control panel) controlling semaphore signals in the area. A detailed description and history of rail operations at the site can be found at http://www.disused-stations.org.uk/features/fiddlers_ferry_power_station_railway/index.shtml Although the power station closed in 2020, the box remains open, as far as I can tell, to serve the remaining occasional rail operations on the line past the site, and possibly rail traffic in connection with decommissioning.
