This crossing point over the Weymouth – London Waterloo railway was once the main entry point to the Isle of Purbeck before the flyover was built. The traffic hold-ups used to extend through the town, but the gridlock has now moved to the by-pass in summer months! The entrance to the station is on the left and the former Railway Hotel on the right is now an Indian restaurant.
