Part of a very wet area created from old sand pits along the course of the Redhill Brook. Much of what isn't actual lake is marsh or reedbed. The reserve is managed by the Surrey Wildlife Trust. https://www.surreywildlifetrust.org/nature-reserves/nutfield-marshes-moors
