Demolition and clearance of former lead works site in preparation for buildings apartments. The tower in the centre of the picture is the former shot tower which was used to produce lead shot for a variety of uses including shot blasting of metals and shot gun cartridge shot. The shot was produced by pouring molten lead through a sieve near the top of the tower which then dropped into a water tank below to cool it and from where it was collected.
