'Glory', Mural, Liddell Street, North Shields

Created by North Shields illustrator Marcus Reed, this large mural adorns the exterior facade of the Salt Market Social building on Liddell Street, North Shields. The multi-layered work is entitled 'Glory' and is, "a profound celebration of community, heritage, and the enduring spirit of the town". The constraints of erecting a mural on the corrugated outside walls of the building meant that the artist had to adopt another approach and paint his artwork on panels laid on the floor inside the building. They were then bolted onto the exterior of the building. The work forms yet another part of the North Shields 'Elevation Mural Festival' which intends to transform the town into a vibrant open-air art gallery.
