The original Byfleet Boat Club was built in 1904 on the west bank of the Wey Navigation, by the owner of West Hall, local philanthropist and socialite Federico Cornelius Stoop, for the use of the professional and middle class buyers of the new housing being built on his wife's estate at Dartnell Park. More land was subequently bought on the east side of the Wey Navigation here, by the Old Parvis Road bridge, and the present boathouse was completed about 1912.
