Looking at this, the name seems appropriate. The River Blackwater rises in a boggy area in a sort of watery mud to muddy water progression before flowing for 36 kms to join the River Loddon and on to the Thames. The spring ponds are having some dredging done, which looks a bit of a mess at the moment.
