Three locomotives are visible with a fourth hidden in the right rear corner. In front on the left is Sir Cecil A Cochrane - an 0-4-0ST built in 1948 by Robert Stephenson & Hawthorn as works No. 7409. It was used at the Redheugh Gas Works in Gateshead. It has been at the Tanfield railway since 1975 and has been kept in use throughout, receiving a new welded boiler in 1998. On the right is No. 2 - an 0-4-0ST and was built by Hawthorn Leslie in 1911 as works No. 2859 and supplied to Keighley Gas Works. it later worked at various explosive works in Scotland before coming to Marley Hill in 1976. It has been restored and had two periods in service on the Tanfield Railway. In July 2025 it was to be found in service at Beamish. In the left rear corner is Horden - an 0-6-0ST built in 1904 by Andrew Barclay as works No. 1015. It worked at various collieries before coming to Marley Hill in 1980. After years in open storage and an eight year restoration, it entered service in 2021.
