On the right is The Larder which serves as the village shop but is in practice more of a delicatessen and butcher, described by its owners as 'the local shop that thinks big'. Adjacent to that is Cranmer's House built on the site of the manor house where Thomas Cranmer, who served as Archbishop of Canterbury in the time of Henry VIII and was to be burned at the stake by Mary Tudor, lived as a child. Beyond that is the village pub, the Cranmer Arms.
