Former Access to Railway, Blackwell Court

Blackwell Court, the house which (together with its grounds) is now Blackwell Adventure Centre, evidently had its own private access to Blackwell Station at the top of the Incline. Presumably this is one of the reasons for the house being sited where it is. The access consists of a path between hedges and is shown on the 1883 OS 1/2500 map. The access seems too narrow for carriages. On later editions the access way appears to be overgrown, so maybe it fell out of use at an early date. A fencepost is just visible on the left. This is a remnant of a gateway for a cross-track that was added later, between 1925 and 1969.
