The Marine Hotel, Mostyn Crescent, Llandudno

Originally built in 1865 as the Marine Hotel, it was later renamed the Alexandra Hotel in 1891. In its earlier years, it was also known as The Adelphi, and it famously hosted Queen Elisabeth of Romania (1843-1916) in 1890 who penned as Carmen Sylva. She was a writer and poet, and her works often focused on Romanian folklore and legends. She was also known for her patronage of the arts and her interest in Romanian culture. Mostyn Crescent including the Marine Hotel and the surrounding boundary walls are Grade II listed. Source: Cadw Source ID: 3458
