Oaklands College was originally the Hertfordshire College of Agriculture and acquired these farm buildings for educational purposes many years ago. The College vacated the site in 2002 and it was sold to George Wimpey who plan to build 38 new houses on it. None of the buildings are listed and they will all be demolished as part of the scheme, so it is perhaps worthwhile to record them before they go. These are the buildings fronting onto Highfield Lane. Update: June 2009. These buildings are still extant, but they are contemporary with, and I suspect now, were originally part of the facilities of the Hertfordshire County Mental Hospital built at Hill End just to the north of this site in 1899. Update: October 2009. All the buildings on the site have now been demolished.
