Hitchin Friends' Meeting House

The third Meeting House in the town, the first being opened in 1694, and this one was constructed in the late 1950s. The Hertfordshire Meeting was established in 1668 and initially held covertly in members' houses as in the very early days of the movement, dissenters were liable to imprisonment or deportation.
