View of the tower of Hereford Cathedral from the cloister of the Vicars' Choral College. Dating from 1472, this replaced their previous accommodation which was on Castle street to the east of the cathedral. Hereford being an "Old Foundation" or "secular" cathedral rather than of monastic origin.. The vicars choral singing the daily round of divine services in the Cathedral rather than monks.
