This heavily-cropped view from a train approaching Moor Street station recreates the shock, on an earlier trip, of the sight of a major new feature on the Birmingham skyline: the beginnings of a big bridge. The line's approach to the city takes it into a tunnel at Bromford from which it climbs to cross all the existing lines east of New Street. The plans show three successive viaducts taking the line into the Curzon Street station. This new feature on the skyline could be Viaduct No 1.
