Priory Cross

The cross was erected in 1868 by William Cosmo Gordon, 5th Earl of Fyvie, and Mary Grace Abercromby or Gordon, his wife, to mark the site of the ancient Priory of St. Mary's, founded 1179. It is also dedicated to the memory of James Hay Chalmers (1829-1867), son of Charles Chalmers of Monkshill and Mary Anderson. The cross is Category C Listed.
