The photo shows the Scott/Duncan vault with the wall-sized memorial plaque on the east wall. The plaque bears the names of many related people, but the name of Patrick Scott, 4th Laird of Rossie and Craig, is at the top. Patrick Scott (1729-1814) was the 4th Laird of Rossie & Craig, and he was the last of the Scott family to own the Rossie & Craig estates. He died at the age of 86. There are other memorials within the vault, but the one shown in the photo is by far the largest. The newer part of the cemetery lies to the east, but close to the Scott/Duncan vault, the site of which is one of the oldest historical features of Montrose.
