Another renovation, another name! Previously known as the, 'Briar Dene Bar & Eatery' https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/6439151, and before that simply as, 'The Briar Dene' https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3318772, this well situated public house reopened under its new name in November 2023. It stands on the site of the former Culvert Inn, as shown on the 1898 edition of the Ordnance Survey Six-Inch map of the area, which was so named after the culvert through which the nearby Brierdene Burn passes beneath the adjoining A193 road. The keen-eyed will spot the difference in the spelling of 'Briar' (In the name of the public house) from that of the burn which lies immediately to the north.
