The building collapsed during construction in 1966, killing five (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-north-east-orkney-shetland-37834960 ) and finally opened in 1970. More recently, its brutalist good looks featured in a film called Tetris, set in the former Soviet Union. There is an excellent museum, open to the public.
