This fine old house is easy to miss when travelling on the A638 (High Street), as it has no windows on that side and instead faces a 20C estate road, Hill Top Estate. It was built in the early 18C, but still has the four to six light mullioned windows typical of the 17C. Note the cross on the top of the gable. The wall in front is quite new, built since it was photographed for the imagesof england.org.uk site in August 2004. The Upper Independent Chapel can be glimpsed in the background.
