Evidently too early in the day for there to be any customers. However it was much busier later on. In the 1851 census the publican was John MacGregor, who was born in Croughly near Tomintoul. As well as the pub, he had a tailor's and clothier's business here, employing at that time four time-served tailors and two apprentices. My great-grandfather was one of his journeymen in the early 1870s.
