The conventional arrangement, above the entrance to the chancel, of the crucifixion of Christ attended by his mother Mary and the apostle John. The Christ figures stands on the rood beam but also has suspension wires: no doubt a practical safety precaution, but also symbolically linking his divine nature and earthly ministry.
