The bridge carries the B6101 Union Road over the Torrs Gorge and the River Goyt. This area, formerly industrial, is now the Torrs Riverside Park. The gorge has been widened and the rock face created and steepened by quarrying; the gritstone Torrs are popular with rock climbers, sheltered and easily accessible.
