The ex-grain barge BARMERE was craned into the Sankey Canal at Spike Island, Widnes, on October 13th, 2005. She was later moored in the centre of the channel. She will be converted into a floating exhibition centre and is to be a permanent feature of the waterway scene here, see: http://www.scars.org.uk/cuttings/volume6/issue6-1/move.html
