Class 66 locomotive No. 66172 slowly propels its train dropping fresh ballast on the newly relaid and lowered track beneath Heath Halt Road bridge. This is the train's second pass: it first dropped ballast between the rails, and this time on the near side of the track, as can be seen around the line in the foreground. It would then work forward again to drop ballast on the far side.
