The great Northern Railway's station was a pre-Beeching casualty in 1953 but the Great Northern Inn lived actively on until August 2023. It had top ratings on Tripadvsor until it closed but currently (27.3.24) it appears to have been sold subject to contract - it was offered freehold at £275,000.
