The first milepost on the south side of the minor road leading from Ripon to Dishforth through Sharow has been painted recently by a Milestone Society member after encroaching vegetation was cleared. Each village centre of Sharow and Copt Hewick is only a short distance which may explain the lack of a mileage to these places. Although there is no foundry name on this post it is identical to those on the Ripon - Pateley Bridge road, B6265, which were cast by J Ingram of Ripon.
