A Northallerton Town Council plaque above the door says "Erected in 1584, this is Northallerton's oldest house. Charles I stayed here as a guest in 1640 and as a prisoner in 1647". As you would expect, it is Grade II Listed https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1150738. It is currently a 5* Hotel.
