Carved stone post by the A6, in parish of BOLTON (BOLTON District), Chequerbent, on old railway bridge, on South side of road. Lancashire CC stone triangle, erected by the County Council in the 19th/20th century. Inscription reads:- : TO / WIGAN / 6¾ MILES / TO / CHORLEY / 10 MILES / TO / PRESTON / 19 MILES : : OVER HULTON : : TO / BOLTON / 4 MILES / TO / MANCHESTER / 12 MILES : Milestone Society National ID: LA_MACY12.
