The nearer no. 28, decent neo-Georgian, is by Detmar Blow, 1902-03, for Cuthbert Quilter. Next door was a coach house, enlarged and remodelled c1928. Grade II listed. Barbara Cartland lived at no. 28 and Sir Alec Douglas Home was born there. Now anyone can follow in Barbara's footsteps as long as one has a spare £35 million knocking about. No. 26 is the Embassy of Egypt. Abutting no. 28 is what is described in the listing of 71 South Audley Street (Image]) as "a stucco Palladian tripartite composition ... to disguise the kitchen flues."
