A new nuclear power plant is taking shape at Hinckley Point, and the task or distributing all that electricity has brought to the countryside a new fixture: the T-pylon. Old framework pylons are being taken down and new ones are being sent on new routes across the landscape. A notice informs the curious that 57km (35.5 miles) of new lines are being built from Hinckley to Avonmouth, near Bristol; some 9km of which are being out underground across the Mendips A.O.N.B.
