Little changed from Colin Smith's visit 17 years ago. I shall even use his description The white building was the Guildford Mechanics' Institute, formerly a reading room for working classes, and today it is still used for educational purposes. The red brick building with the clock tower was a fire station and today it still has its municipal conveniences!
