The church has early origins, possibly Saxon, but certainly early Norman. The tower may have been much smaller at the time, but it was rebuilt in the seventeenth century and increased to the present height. Another restoration was carried out in the 1880s. Note the grey stone appearance - quite distinctive in the area.
