In the foreground Booth Gate Clough, then the Huddersfield to Manchester railway crosses the picture; the bridge is over the road down to the hamlet of Booth, which can just be glimpsed. Over the valley the A62 and the buildings along it can be seen, and above that the fields, farms and moorland of the old Township of Lingards which was merged with Slaithwaite in 1896.
