On the former police station / post office at Carmelite Street is this "Saunders Heritage Coat of Arms Armorial Plaque". "Dated 1675, built into arched gateway. Plaque initialled IG IS to John Gordon and his wife Janet Saunders, incorporating coat of arms. The plot of ground was called Saunders Heritage". www.abdn.ac.uk/elphinstone/bbaf/category/6/61
