This imposing granite building on the corner of Union Street and Union Terrace is the Northern Assurance Building (later Commercial Union Assurance), designed by A. Marshall Mackenzie and known locally as "The Monkey House". Recent occupants of it have been a bar and in 2024 a Thai restaurant. 2024 - plans are again afoot to turn the upper floors into flats. www.aberdeencity.gov.uk
